Everett Schmidt

As a man who devoted his career to education and, in retirement, retains his love of learning, Everett Schmidt believes the American Founders were divinely inspired. He began his professional life as an assistant band director in El Campo, later served as both band director and principal at Giddings (Texas) High School, and retired in 1997 as academic dean at San Jacinto College North Campus.

The Honorable Roger Keats

Like many of today's Texans, former Illinois State Senator Roger Keats and wife Tina fled to the freedoms found here. The Land of Lincoln had been Roger's lifelong home, and he had invested most of his adult life to his business and community there. But in 2011, the Keats concluded they were sick of the corruption and high taxes in Chicago, so they retired to the Lone Star State.

Bryan and Ginny Maupin

Thanks to Dr. Bryan Maupin's Air Force career, he and wife Ginny saw the infamous wall between East and West Germany demolished. They also saw the contrast between the two sides of that wall—the difference between liberty and tyranny.

Joe and Ann Kercheville

The middle child of a single mom, Joe Kercheville credits his mother’s early influence with instilling in him a strong work ethic. He ascribes that same work ethic to Ann, his beloved wife and business partner of 36 years and credits her for helping to build their life success in business and, now, as owners of Joshua Creek Ranch. As the proud grandparents of six, Joe and Ann speak emotionally about their modest upbringings and the great nation that afforded them the freedom to work hard and the opportunity to prosper.

Joe and Olga San Miguel

Texas natives Joe and Olga San Miguel grew up in the same community near downtown San Antonio. They married after Joe’s graduation from UT and throughout their lives together have embraced learning. Life-changing decisions opened doors and took the two and their growing family to positions on both American coasts where Joe joined top flight business school faculties and built a successful business and national security consulting business.

Robert and Captain Nancy Bruce

When Nancy met Bob in 1980 at the Texas Flying Club in San Antonio, he was an emerging business entrepreneur and student pilot; she was working as a flight instructor. She went on to become only the 4th female pilot at Southwest Airlines and is enjoying her 33rd year in command of a Southwest cockpit. Against many odds, Bob founded UAR Productions and United Audio Recording, a national award-winning advertising group. Together, they founded and operate the Boerne Stage Airfield, a privately owned, public use general aviation airport offering a flight school, large hangar space, and a fleet of nine aircraft.

Meg Wilson

As an early entrant into the then-emerging field of technology development, transfer, and commercialization, Meg Wilson spent the early part of her career in the computer industry and went on to teach at the graduate level. She describes herself as "just a teacher" and asserts that she and husband Fred are just "normal people." Still she wisely invested in order to enjoy a comfortable retirement.
